Their 2012 got the highest ranking, a “coup de Coeur” in the 2014 edition of Guide Hachette des Vins.
Gravea lies in the port of Portets with records of the Chateau’s wines being shipped down the Garonne to Elizabethan England in the 1590’s. The warmer weather and gravely soils tend to give a unique rich, savoury character to the wines, perfectly demonstrated in this ‘Gravéa’. Jonathan Ray in the Spectator described Gravea 2009 “as the runaway wine of the night at a Spectator Wine School’s Bordeaux masterclass”. Production is small and brothers Thierry & Denis produce just 3,000 bottles annually.
