Japanese whiskyWhisky making has long since ceased to be the preserve of Scotland and Ireland. Today Japanese whisky, Welsh whisky, and even English whisky can now be bought, offering more than just an extra talking point to an eclectic collection of malts. It’s not surprising that given the ever growing popularity of whisky throughout the world, so many new countries are bringing out local versions.

Japanese whisky traces its roots back to 1924 when the now famous Yamazaki distillery was founded and has a reputation for quality that has seen these single malt Scotch style whiskies do remarkably well at blind tastings. While there are many countries like Canada or India that have been making their own whiskies for some time, new players like Finland, Sweden and Germany are also getting involved.
