Win the ultimate single malt experience at Lagavulin

Iain McArthur at LagavulinIf, like us, you’ve always dreamed of escaping to a Hebridean island to spend your days in the company of the finest single malts, the people at Lagavulin are here to help.

Iain McArthur is a stalwart of world renowned Islay distillery Lagavulin and has been crafting single malts for decades. Now he is on the lookout for an apprentice to get involved in all aspects of this dream job.

‘I’ve spent 42 years working at the Lagavulin Distillery and now it’s your turn. Thanks to Friends of the Classic Malts, one of you lucky whisky-lovers will join me for two days at the distillery here on Islay and learn the secrets of Lagavulin as my very first apprentice. There’s plenty work to be done but it’s worth it when you taste the whisky,’ says Iain.

The winner will have the chance to get involved in everything from peat cutting, warehousing, and the traditional craft of malt-distilling. On top of that, this unique opportunity includes the chance to enjoy the best food, drink and accommodation that Islay has to offer.

If you want to win this rare chance to experience life at Lagavulin first hand, you’ll have to convince Iain that you’re the one for the job. You then need to persuade your friends to support your application, with the distillery also offering a signed bottle of Lagavulin for the 50 applicants with the most votes.

‘To be in with a chance of winning the apprenticeship, you’ve got to be passionate about whisky, just like me,’ says Iain.

‘Then you need to give me plenty good reasons why I should choose you, and get other folk to vote for you too. If you think you’re up to the challenge, that is…’
