Amber-gold colour, the nose is fine, very pure – quite floral, ripe berries, hint toastiness. Champagne Brut Rose, Bernard Remy 60 % Pinot Noir, 35 % Chardonnay, 5 % Pinot Meunier, Coloured with 13 % Bouzy Rouge. Bernard eschews the clear glass approach of some champagne houses as he feels that clear glass adversely affects the quality. A pale rose colour, ripe whole berries on the nose, raspberry / strawberry. Very pure flavours on the palate, good acidity and clarity – the finish is fine and sustained. An excellent rose, very classy. Ch. La Rose-Pourret, St. Emilion Grand Cru The Warion family have owned the 8 hectare property for over a century, and these immaculate sandy, iron-rich vineyards lie in the shadow of the famous clock tower just outside the town walls. Merlot makes up 70% of the plantings, with Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Cab. Sauvignon, and vines average over 40 years of age. Yields are kept low, fermentation is temperature-controlled, followed by a year and a half oak maturation.
